Luigi Torino

Luigi Torino is from Reggio Calabria, at the southern tip of Italy, and has been passionate about nature and wildlife from an early age. Trained as a physicist, he works in the consulting sector but spends much of his free time exploring the rural and mountainous landscapes of Calabria in search of botanical treasures and wildlife. Since 2020, his main focus has been the study, identification, and photographic documentation of Calabria’s native orchid species. Luigi is the author of several articles and checklists on Calabrian wild orchids and contributes to the monitoring of endangered plant species and local bird populations. Combining a scientific background with a passion for natural history, he enjoys sharing his knowledge of Calabria’s remarkable biodiversity and helping others discover the hidden treasures of southern Italy’s landscapes.
