Alexis FitzGerald

Alexis FitzGerald is a botanist and ecologist who runs his own ecology consultancy business based in Dublin, Ireland. After an honours degree in Botany and a Masters in Biodiversity and Conservation, both from Trinity College Dublin, he has developed an expertise in vascular plant, charophyte and bryophyte identification. He has botanised extensively across Europe, as well as in Brazil and South Africa. In a voluntary capacity, he is actively involved with the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) and the Dublin Naturalists’ Field Club (DNFC), frequently organising and leading field outings and indoor teaching seminars. He has also been the BSBI County Recorder for Co. Monaghan in Ireland since 2015, and the Editor of Irish Botanical News since 2021. He will publish his first book, ‘A Flora of County Monaghan’ in 2024.
