The mountains north of Thessaloniki have an amazing flora and we seemed to hit the peak flowering on our April tour there in 2016. The Saxifrages were amazing and so too the shows of Dog’s-tooth Violets and Crocuses on Mount Phalakron. Even better were the sheets of Violas colouring the mountain-top. There were orchids in abundance and on Mount Pangeio and amazing spectacle as thousands of peonies all bloomed at once!
