From the start of September it is now possible to visit Italy again from the UK if you have had the full set of Covid vaccinations, quarantine is no longer required, and given Italy’s amber status on the UK travel lists, you also do not need to quarantine on return if you’ve had the jabs.

To celebrate Paul Cardy’s going to invite you to his home for the past seven years, the wonderful forested Valli de Lanzo on the east facing slopes of Piemonte. The sheer beauty of many of the rich array of the region’s mushrooms and toadstools is framed by fabulous autumn colour. A visit could be justified for the fungi alone, however it is Paul’s assertion that the Hotel Italia produces some of the finest food in northwest Italy, so if you love top quality Italian food, you might just need the walks to make room for the next installment! Add to this stunning landscapes, some lovely old villages, beautiful cascading rivers and some excellent forest birding and you’ve got a real treat in prospect. Time to shake the dust off those passports!
