Wildlife Holidays/Tours to INDIA Tigers Mammals and Birds and Taj Mahal with Greentours
Northern Indiaprovides some of the world's most impressive wildlife and cultural spectacles.
Famous Bharatpur is renowned amongst birdwatchers and wildlife photographers worldwide. A fabulous array of herons, storks, cranes and wildfowl awaits us. Imperial and Spotted Eagles hunt over jheels inhabited by Purple Gallinules, Pheasant-tailed Jacanas and improbably tall Sarus Cranes. Woodlands are home to Long-tailed Nightjars, Dusky Eagle Owls and Siberian Rubythroats and other attractions in this remarkable wetland include Porcupines, Jackals, magnificent Rock Pythons and the graceful Jungle Cat. Only a short distance from Bharatpur lies one of the most beautiful works of man, Shah Jahan's love immortalised in marble, the incomparable Taj Mahal. Rajastan's beautiful Ranthambhor National Park will keep us enthralled with its rich and abundant mammal fauna including that ultimate predator - the Tiger! A magnificent eleventh century fort overlooks forests, lakes and grasslands inhabited by Blackbuck, Blue Bull, Jungle Cat, Striped Hyena, Wild Boar, Sambar, Sloth Bear and a rich variety of birds. An extension takes us 6000 feet up into the Himalayan foothills to Nainital where we can enjoy a completely new set of birds as well as magnificent views of the high Himalaya, and then down to the lovely Quality Inn and Corbett National Park where the variety of birds and mammals is quite extraordinary. These legendary locations can be savoured from the comfort of some superbly located lodges and hotels, allowing us to enjoy and photograph India's classic wildlife at our leisure.

The Baratpur Bagh offer visitors quiet luxury, exceptional food, and luxuriant orchards to wander in – ‘Bagh’ means ‘garden’. Rooms are tastefully furnished, and like all rooms on this tour, have en suite showers and WCs. At Ranthambhor we stay in the Tiger Den situated along the road to the park entrance. The rooms are modern with very good bathrooms and are light and spacious. They have ceiling fans and air-conditioning. There is a swimming pool. The restaurant serves great food and provides an excellent breakfast before those jeep safaris into the reserve. In Jaipur we stay at the Jaipur Hilton, all five star luxury! In Nainital we have chosen the excellent Vikram Vintage Inn which has pleasant spacious rooms and fine views up to the surrounding ridges. The Quality Inn above the banks of theKosiRiveris a wonderful place. The large rooms are arranged round the bird-filled grounds in a chalet style arrangement. For the last two nights of the extension we stay at the rather basic Dhikala compound deep in the heart of Corbett NP.

Dry and sunny virtually every day with low humidity. Temperatures are very pleasant in the mornings and afternoons, warm to hot in the middle of the day, and cool during the night and early morning, especially at Ranthambhor. Nainital is much cooler with the possibility of quite cold weather.
